2009 Livermore Valley Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon (Small Lot)
This one is for the Cab lover who likes deep and dark over zippy and racy. It’s built firmly plush, with plenty of tasty stuffing to keep your interest. This is a Cab that keeps on surprising you.
Starting with big aromas of suede and leather, it smells like the cowboy boot section of a Western apparel store. Add a bit of juniper incense and roses, and you have a mighty pretty wine about to unfold. And unfold it does, with flavors of dark coffee, espresso gelato, pepper, roasted chiles, licorice, graphite, cassis and molasses. It’s big and intense with grippy tannins, overt oak influence and power to spare.
Sourced from the White Cat vineyard in the Crane Ridge area, this is fabulous example of a beef-loving Livermore Cabernet. Feed this cat a Porterhouse and it will do more than purr, it will positively roar.
